About Rummikub Rules — Who We Are

Welcome to Rummikub Rules — a free, friendly home for the popular tile game of Rummikub. Our aim is simple: explain the rules clearly and accurately, without the jargon, so anyone can sit down and play with confidence.

Why we built this site

Rummikub is a wonderful game, but it can feel like a lot the first few times you play — building sets and runs, the 30-point initial meld, jokers, and rearranging tiles already on the table. We created Rummikub Rules to be the clear, reliable guide we wished we’d had when learning: every rule explained step by step, in plain English, and laid out in large, easy-to-read type so the whole table can follow along.

What you’ll find here

  • Complete, beginner-friendly Rummikub rules
  • How sets, runs, and the initial 30-point meld work — explained simply
  • Jokers and table manipulation, made clear with examples
  • Free printable references and easy-to-follow guides
  • Tips, variations, and answers to the questions players ask most

About the author

Every guide on this site is written and reviewed by Daniel Mercer, a lifelong Rummikub enthusiast who has spent many years playing and teaching the game. Daniel believes good rules should be easy for everyone to read and follow — which is why each page here is written plainly and laid out clearly. Where a rule varies from one household to the next, he explains the most common version and notes where house rules differ.

Our commitment to accuracy

Game rules vary by region and family, and we take getting them right seriously. We focus on the most widely played version of Rummikub, double-check our details, and always note where common house rules differ — so you can trust what you read and adapt it to your own table.
